3D Printed House

Concept U+A was commissioned to undertake the concept design of a 3D printed home that would serve as a module in design and workflow for future endeavors, which is to be located at The Arabian Ranches III - Sun. This project will serve as a precursor to a paradigm shift in architecture and the built industry, challenging traditional methods of construction and design. It will pave the road to improving on more traditional methods of design and construction that will propel the industry towards a more efficient, responsible and educated future. While the one ground floor home will be fully functional and contain all the necessary requirements for a comfortable and smart living style, it will provide a previously unimagined degree of freedom in terms of design and accessibility in terms of social responsibility. Design The design direction to which we knew we needed to adhere to from the get go was one where several criteria and needs needed to be addressed, such as comfort, smart and green living as well as bearing in mind the gravity of the task at hand and not sacrificing on creative aspects. In order to remain faithful to our vision, which is to build a home in every sense of the word, but one that also moves away from traditional constraints and one that employs advanced design tools and the use of 3D printed models were necessary for an educated design and decision making process. Drawing on the natural process present in nature and in the human form, our design and accepted proposal emerged through process, evolution and emergence.
