Belo NEXA Designer: Studio BDJ Architecture and Design Category: Display The Brief What is beauty? This was the question posed by the Belo Medical Group—the Philippines’ most iconic name in aesthetics—as we designed their most ambitious flagship to date: Belo NEXA. Located at One Ayala in the heart of Makati, the clinic was envisioned not only as a site for cutting-edge treatments, but as a living, breathing definition of beauty—both now, and 50 years into the future. The Vision Beauty evolves. It shifts with time, culture, and context. Our task was to imagine a space that transcends fleeting trends and instead expresses beauty as something enduring, expressive, and deeply human. As an evolving cultural force, we envisioned Belo NEXA as a museum of future beauty—a curated convergence of material, movement, and meaning. We asked: What will beauty look like when we look back from the future? The design explores contrast as a central principle—because beauty is never just one thing. It is light and shadow, softness and strength, permanence and transformation. Every element in the space expresses this duality. Traditional and digital art are in dialogue. Earthy textures meet polished finishes. Heavy forms seem to float. The Journey From the moment guests arrive, they are immersed in a sensorial experience. Suspended overhead, Beloverse—a kinetic ceiling sculpture by Kenneth Cobonpue—features floating turquoise volumes and hammered brass accents, twisting under the illusion of defying gravity. Opposite it, a 16-foot-tall immersive AI-generated digital artwork pulses and morphs in the same color palette, suggesting life, breath, and flow in real time. This poetic pairing of analog sculpture and digital form evokes a future where both human craft and machine creativity define beauty. Reception counters are shaped from engineered stone—flat slabs molded into sculptural boulders. The same material is used for floating stair treads above a rock garden filled with real boulders. Bespoke furniture pieces mimic organic curves, echoing the quiet asymmetry of nature. Light is used not just to illuminate, but to soften, guide, and rhythmically shape the guest’s journey through the space. In terms of programming, the clinic had to meet surgical, operational, and hospitality needs. But conceptually, it had to inspire. From start to finish, no space is incidental—every corridor, every texture, every light condition was designed to feel intentional and profound. The Result What emerged is not just a clinic—it is a living exhibit. Belo NEXA turns the functional into the experiential, and the clinical into the cultural. It is a space that invites reflection, exploration, and connection. Every detail becomes a display piece. Every visit becomes a ritual. Belo NEXA doesn’t follow the times—it seeks to define them.
