Bodrum Turkbuku Villas

In Bodrum Türkbükü, the project site is divided into 3 parcels for three different designers to plan the boutique housing project consisting of 6 independent sections, each with a closed area of approximately 250 m2. In this context, the residential project for two villas is designed within a total land area of 5729 m2. Positioning of buildings, pedestrian and traffic connections and circulation, parking lots, ramps, stairs, pavements, perimeter and retaining walls, in-plot structural and green landscaping, etc. site arrangement have been the initial concerns; the topographical data has guided the main architectural decisions, also local texture, colors, and materials prefered as the main references for the design of the housing projects. In coordination with static, electrical, mechanical works and landscape, a pergola combination between masses is applied for the permeability of open and closed spaces and the flexibility of being used together. While the warm-cold balance is established between wood-steel-stone materials, the exterior cladding is recommended as stone. In the interior design, a color palette of earth tones, concrete-looking paint/texture paint/decorative plaster, and exposed concrete texture were recommended. Strip joinery in the basement floors benefited to receive more daylight in interior spaces. In wet areas, openings created pleasant and playful light . The roof terrace is considered as an open use area. The balcony and the roof terrace are combined and optimized for use. As much space as possible is allocated to the pool, where ceramic coating applied. Natural Wood Coated Composite Panel, Technowood, Bamboo Stick, Teak Deck Wood Veneer alternatives are used on the facade. Terazzo flooring has been enriched with differentiated applications such as small-grained resinous gravel. In the living and dining room sections, along with ultra-transparent glass (w/Low-e) and thin-profile sliding system, which aims to maintain an uninterrupted visual and physical relationship with the outdoors. To receive controlled light, a sliding and folding solar shading system is also applied. Inspired by styles of simplicity, the project combines the principles of mid-century modern with local data and tradition. As in the mid-century modern architectural language known for its clean lines, minimal decoration, and connection to nature, the house plan is characterized by large, open spaces, floor-to-ceiling windows, with an emphasis on bringing the outdoors inside.
