BUNG RIENG HOUSE

Bung Rieng House is located in a remote residential area that is bordered by a forest. On one side, it is layered with shadows casted by the tall trees, the other is the vast white sand dotted by a few sea almond trees. In the 1700-square-meter site, the old house is suggested to be maintained and renovated for serviced functions such as the kitchen, housemaid's area, and storage. Through the new elevated corridor, a new volume unites all the bedrooms with a view toward the afar greenery. We pursue the construction in its simplest form: a lightweight roof hanging on parallel white walls supported by slabs of stones, entwining the feeling of stability and infirmity. Moreover, the walls with unexpected ends enhance the privacy of individual rooms, elongating personal spaces. Besides the cultivated garden and scenic pond, this vacation house for a 3-generation family reinforces its connectivity via a roofed terrace, awaiting the festive and cozy weekend evenings.
