A comprehensive ecotourism plan was developed for the Umm Al Quwain Marine Protected Area in the United Arab Emirates, covering approximately 152 km². This area is one of the last well-preserved marine environments in the country and serves as a crucial habitat for various endangered marine megafauna species. The plan focuses on structuring ecotourism activities within the lagoon, ensuring sustainable development while fostering meaningful connections between visitors and the natural environment. To achieve this, the project was carried out in sequential phases, including site analysis, future vision, land use planning, carrying capacity assessment, benchmarking, and the development of a masterplan. As a final step, conceptual architectural designs were created for key visitor infrastructure, prioritizing low-impact solutions that respect the environmental context. This integrated approach aims to establish a sustainable ecotourism model, enhancing visitor experiences while ensuring the long-term preservation of this valuable natural area.
