EKAAYA _ MEMENTOS BY ITC, UDAIPUR

In crafting the ITC mementos "EKAAYA" resort on the rugged terrain of the Aravalli hills in Udaipur, Rajasthan, a meticulous approach was adopted to address both challenges and opportunities presented by the environment. A comprehensive analysis of the mountain slope was conducted, scrutinizing factors such as slope gradient, soil stability, sun exposure, wind patterns, and views. This analysis laid the foundation for informed design decisions, ensuring compatibility with the natural landscape. The project embraced modular building blocks tailored to withstand mountain environments, including seismic activity and extreme weather conditions. This choice prioritized durability and resilience, essential for longevity in such challenging terrain. Modular units were designed with flexibility in mind, allowing for various configurations that adapt to the natural contours of the slope while optimizing views. Staggered or terraced arrangements were implemented to minimize landscape impact and afford maximum privacy for each unit. The resort design aimed to preserve and enhance the mountain landscape by seamlessly integrating green spaces, native vegetation, and natural materials. Outdoor amenities such as terraces, balconies, and hiking trails were strategically incorporated to encourage residents to immerse themselves in their surroundings. Sustainability was paramount in both design and construction, with a focus on minimizing environmental impact and maximizing energy efficiency. Use of local materials and Passive design strategies such as orientation, natural ventilation, and thermal mass were implemented, complemented by renewable energy sources like 100% power-backed solar panels and water recycling and conservation systems. A strong sense of community was fostered through the provision of shared amenities and gathering spaces, including private recreational pools within clusters, facilitating socialization and connection among the guests. Accessibility for all residents, including those with mobility challenges, was a priority. The design incorporated ramps, elevators, and other universal design features, alongside inclusive pathways and infrastructure to ensure a welcoming environment for people of all abilities. By meticulously considering these factors and designing with modular building blocks, "EKAAYA" emerged as a sustainable and resilient mountain slope development that harmonizes seamlessly with its natural surroundings. It provides comfortable and functional recreational and rejuvenating spaces for resort guests to reconnect with nature.
