In Bund Office

The In-Bund Office Building is located on the east bank of the Huangpu River. It was originally the Xinhua Wharf Industrial Building, with a century-long history. The architects have re-designed the façade to let natural light flood in, so as to enhance the interior condition as a modern business office while retaining its original style. The building has deep red bricks as its major design elements that were laid with a pattern, creating a unique style manifesting the combination of old and new. The designers have used Shanghai Memories as the major interior design concept. The facade materials and the spatial features of those external balconies were further adapted to the atrium design. The strong contrast of light and shade was created throughout the interior space. The office environment has included its original architectural element, the octagonal columns, as part of the interior plan; the rough concrete texture of those columns is in contrast with the style of the new materials used. The roof garden with a variety of public spaces will become the main body of the landscape. The design has combined the aesthetics of Chinese gardens with modern concise measures to create quality spatial environment.
