International Medical Cluster aims to provide worldclass healthcare services to the Russian market by strengthening the relationship between International and Russian medical professionals. The Oncology Hospital is a pilot project of The Skolkovo International Medical Center with the state-of-the-art working environment for diagnostic and therapeutic technologies. The hospital design is in accordance with strict European standards and deriving from evidence-based design criteria. All design features aim to meet the need for innovative technology, creating an efficient work environment for hospital staff and providing high professional medical care. Project description: Outpatient clinics, the first phase of the building, was completed in 2018. Second phase construction started in 2019 and consists of two main wings connected by an atrium. Both phases are served by the outdoor plaza. From the plaza, visitors can easily find access to the public elevators in each wing of the hospital. The new building of the Oncology Hospital consists of the Radiotherapy and Brachytherapy Unit, PET/SPECT center, Chemotherapy Unit, Surgery Unit, and three Inpatient wards. Different units will provide cutting-edge medical services utilizing leading technologies to achieve the best diagnostic and treatment results. The hospital space offers visitors a striking perspective. After passing through the entry doors of the Hospital, visitors will find themselves in a five-story light-filled atrium. Visitors and patients, who enter from the main entrance, are directed to the different units using clearly defined elevator cores. All throughout the hospital, the paths of patients and visitors rarely intersect which improves the overall experience of both staff and patients and provides smooth circulation flow. A central atrium creates the indoor vertical visual connection between all floors. This allows for optimal patient navigation from one floor to another. Families, patients, and staff can use this atrium and external balconies as waiting and recreation areas. These spaces create areas where people can interact and enjoy relief from the stress of a typical hospital environment. Inside the hospital, the waiting areas are spacious and well lit. At nighttime, the atrium glazing becomes transparent, providing interior views of the hospital from the outside. Inside the building the scheme of colors and finish materials based on natural materials palette provids a calm and comfortable atmosphere, thus creating visual healing environments, which are emotionally supportive and aesthetically pleasing as well as functional and efficient.
