Klaipėda state musical theatre

It is said that "Theatre begins in the cloakroom". This phrase describes the meaning of what we did. We interpreted the musical theatre spaces not only as a place for the arts to flourish, but we also looked for a sacred language in the interior architecture, where an emotional depth would be revealed even before the music started. To find the foundations for the overall concept, we looked to the adjacency of the context – the sea. By rejecting the luxury idea of the theatre, we gave way to purity, simplicity and naturalness. Although the interior is rather monogamous and maintains a unity of colour, the different character of the spaces expands the range of experiences. Klaipėda State Music Theatre greets the spectator with unexpectedly soft, organic shapes and warm materials, and once they enter the main hall, they are welcomed by the feeling of the experience to come, watching the delicate waves of the Baltic Sea on the walls.
