Manna Resort "A little piece of the world in a small corner of South Tyrol" that is the vision of Maria Luisa Manna for her Manna Resort. The exquisite 5-star oasis of well-being in Montagna - South Tyrol/Bolzano (Italy) opened its doors on 11 November 2021: a stylish place in the middle of nature with the rating "Adults only 12+" in the hotel and restaurant. Harmoniously embedded in the surroundings, the Manna Resort lies between porphyry rocks, trees, and apple meadows on a forest slope in Montagna. Together with Klaus Gummerer of Pichler Architects and Enrico Moretti of Moretti Interiors, she has designed an exceptional resort with strong Asian influences on the almost 12,000 square metre property. The resort offers 15 individually designed suites and junior suites as well as three chalets, the two restaurants "L'Orangerie" and "Luisa Gourmet", the Manna Spa and Manna Gym as well as its own complementary medicine centre, the Manna Medical. Like the branches of a tree, the paths and various units are spread across the site. The green roofs make the building ensemble look inconspicuous from the outside, it blends almost seamlessly into the surroundings and at the same time provides repeated views of the South Tyrolean mountains. The goal was to integrate the building units into the landscape as naturally and inconspicuously as possible, is how architect Klaus Gummerer of Pichler Architects describes his design: "The building volumes have been integrated into the existing slope in a step-like and branch-like manner and positioned and organised in such a way that all parts of the building have the best possible views of the surrounding nature without compromising the privacy of the guests. The subtle distribution of the building structures leads to a fusion of indoor and outdoor spaces." During construction, there were always challenges to overcome: the work was delayed not only by the effects of the pandemic, but also because of the conditions on the site, as the excavation work encountered far more rock than had been suspected. The materials wood, glass, copper and porphyry stone characterise the ambience of the resort. For example, the weathered exterior walls are clad with recyclable copper sheeting, the walls and canopy ceilings of the sheltered terraces are made of local larch wood, and local porphyry was used for the terraces and access paths. Inside, unusual shapes keep surprising, for example right in the reception area, where hundreds of wooden rods swing from the ceilings, or the sculptural wooden walls made of fine boards in the restaurant "L'Orangerie", while the ceiling in the next room is made of hanging plants. The Manna Resort is certified as climate neutral.
