The interior design of MOSH Bar & Dinner, located in the heart of Bucharest, Romania, is a transformative space that fluidly shifts between haute cuisine, mixology, and club vibes. The venue, which we call the “Multitalented Space,” merges hospitality, art, and design in a unique way, offering more than just functional and aesthetic qualities. It is divided into three main areas: a garden lounge, private dining, and an epicenter—a room-in-room structure that houses a bar, two communal tables, and a DJ booth. The space features a high-end sound system by Lambda Labs, with a focus on optimized acoustics. For tranquility, the garden lounge is positioned to the left of the entrance, framed by large windows and high vegetation. It extends the interior into the planted forecourt, blurring the boundary between indoor and outdoor spaces. The opening windows further enhance the natural flow. Suspended from the ceiling is the unique artwork titled “Manic Youth” by a renowned Austrian sculptor. Made from the rhizome of a 100-year-old oak, this biophilic piece adds a natural, grounding element to the space. The private dining area, slightly elevated, is enclosed by translucent curtains, offering intimacy while maintaining visual openness to the rest of the space. A custom-designed curtain unites the areas, allowing for flexible use of the venue at all times of day and night. The restaurant’s logo, inspired by a place setting, revolves around a central circle. Symbolizing a plate and social connection, the circular motif runs throughout the space, including the fractal lighting design and custom curtain that divides the private dining area. Central to the concept is a science-based lighting system developed in collaboration with a transdisciplinary team, in collaboration with the University of Oregon / Fractals Research. This system, designed to enhance well-being, incorporates fractal patterns proven to reduce stress. These patterns are integrated into the epicenter’s suspended ceiling, where backlighting projects them as floating dots across the floor, creating an immersive experience. The lighting system offers three customizable scenes: a bright dining setting, a dimmed bar ambiance, and a lively party atmosphere, with a movable fractal light controlled by a KNX system. In addition to visual effects, the lighting incorporates acoustic elements, improving the sound quality and reinforcing a sense of calm. This combination of light and sound creates a cohesive, emotionally resonant environment, fulfilling both sensory and psychological needs. The circular motif representing social connection and togetherness is a central theme throughout the design, appearing in lighting, spatial elements, and graphic design. This consistent element anchors the venue’s identity and reflects the importance of shared experiences. The MOSH Bar & Dinner project demonstrates how architecture, neuroscience, and artistic expression can converge to create a space that supports both functionality and the well-being of its users. From material selection to sensory elements, every aspect of the design contributes to an environment that invites guests not just to stay but to deeply engage with the space.
