Driven by that wild beauty, Dye sculpted each hole to embrace the land’s rugged contours, planting the seed for a course that is both timeless and dynamic. Today, Old Marsh embarks on a transformative journey with a visionary clubhouse that honors Dye's legacy while ushering in a new era of understated elegance and environmental responsibility. Inspired by Dye’s maxim—to shape rather than impose—the architecture is defined by an “inverted landscape” ceiling that ripples above the two-story space, bringing the ebb and flow of fairways and greens into the heart of the building. Expansive, bird-safe glazing offers panoramic views, dissolving the boundary between interior and exterior and keeping Dye’s artistry always in view. On the main level, guests enter beneath the reed colonnade—a rhythmic forest of slender vertical fins that sway like marsh grasses in a gentle breeze. As sunlight filters through, shifting patterns of light and shadow carve out intimate niches and open gathering spots, inviting spontaneous encounters and moments of connection—echoes of the surprises that await on Dye’s course. Beyond the colonnade, the outdoor terrace dips into a “pot bunker,” a sunken amphitheater that gently draws guests down into the landscape. Here, low seating invites you to pause and appreciate uninterrupted views of the marsh and the rolling fairways beyond, offering a moment to breathe deeply and feel entirely present in this living tableau. As dusk falls, the clubhouse transforms into a glowing oasis, its carefully calibrated lighting accentuating architectural forms while respecting the rhythms of the marsh and its avian inhabitants. Hidden up-lights wash the rippling “inverted landscape” ceiling in warm luminescence, casting a quiet reflection on the water that echoes the landscape’s contours—what we call the “Pete Dye moon” effect.
