In this project, "Orient" and "Occident" are the core of the design. The Mandarin character “well-shaped”(#) layout of the space originated from the traditional design of oriental dwellings, with the entrance separating the inside from the outside, bringing the core of the family to the center of the space. In the dining area, the dining table is “Infinity as two circles” symbolizing a reunion in the significant time. The design concept starts with "Orient" and "Occident" and continues through the whole space. Contrast originates from the two poles, and the two poles are born from infinity, breaking up the beauty of contrast. The Bright hall and Dark room”form of the oriental space pattern introduces into the modem apartment. The occident elements as FF&E make the interior come to the Renaissance period showing the mixing orient and occident. The family members come from the combination of East and West, and the design and decoration of the space start from the element of contrast, incorporating the connotation of infinity and contrast into the design, and the various contrasting elements to create the impact of contrast, but in a harmonious way, such as East and West, green and red, stone and leather, glass and woodwork, etc. The design technique of compressing and then enlarging the space, such as a marble corridor between the entrance area and the public area, creates a sense of concentration and enlargement, which not only creates a sense of visual enlargement, but also gives the residents a clear separation between the inside and the outside, and a long corridor leading from the public area to the master bedrooms and second bedrooms, which provides good privacy. The ochre back wall of the foyer and the oriental furniture show the stability, while the marble wall passage welcomes the visual impact of the western handcrafted furniture, silently allowing the sublimated art to flow; the curved art-painted ceiling of the living room and the gray marble form a natural canvas, allowing the ochre study to blend the East and West. The curved art-painted ceiling and gray marble in the living room form a natural canvas, making the ochre study a blend of East and West, just like Marco Polo's imagination of the East, which was the aesthetic inception of the Renaissance. The contrast of materials, such as titanium-plated bookcases, stone, and wood veneer laminates, explores the relationship between use and people, generating different textures to bring out the perception of texture. The basin is made of a large piece of marble milled to create a geometric division of curved surfaces and tiles, giving a sense of tranquility and order to the view.
