Oliver Blume, CEO of Porsche AG, introduced Porsche China's new headquarters in Shanghai as a "significant milestone" for the brand, not just as a physical relocation, but as a "new chapter." The anySCALE team had to create a design concept that not only fused brand themes of speed and passion but also evoked a sense of timeless elegance mixed with contemporary fashion, based on Porsche China's design concept S.P.A.C.E. 4.0 — Smart, Passionate, Attractive, Collaborative, and Engaging. As a brand, Porsche is about creating timeless pieces of art with innovative engineering. As soon as you enter the headquarters, themes of speed and passion speak boldly through the language of space and design. A Porsche car model timeline on the wall; An engine block display, trophy cabinet, and shelves with scale models; An eye-catching 1:1 scale mock-up of a Porsche 919 series racecar; A sculptural staircase that covers five floors, fostering communication and movement; And large-scale bonsai trees that convey the exclusivity and higher value associated with the brand while highlighting awareness for employee well-being. Another idea the design team had was using solid colors based on different car models so each employee workspace would have its own identity. However, the project did meet its fair share of challenges, the biggest of which was to navigate its various complexities by maintaining the highest quality over a short timeline. The 13,000 square meter headquarters has earned a WELL Certification™, Gold Standard, the first-ever Porsche property to have the prestigious distinction.
