Qinglong Lake Park

Chengdu

Situated in the eastern ring of Chengdu Tianfu Greenway, Qinglong Lake Park is the largest lake and wetland network along Tianfu Greenway, covering an area of 718.6 hectares. The site is adjacent to Chengdu University, having the relic of mausoleum for the King of Sichuan in Ming Dynasty. Before its park development, numerous wild birds already took this place as their winter habitats. So in this park design, our team planned the entire functional layout from the point of the Ecosphere design, hoping to improve the water quality and the wild birds habitat quality while integrating human activities. The site planning considers ecological habitat protection as the priority of the design, with design goals of creating a sustainable and stable water ecological community and restoring the damaged natural environment. In order of protecting the site's natural habitats, the design preserves the primary forest, wetlands, and flourishing secondary forest in the site, only measure is getting rid of the invading planting species like Paper Mulberry. The design has strict rules to protect the birds’ habitat zone. We planned the fruit groves around the edges of birds’ natural habitats and design the shoreline with the slope from 1:8 to 1:10, to facilitating fish or amphibians to spawning. These measures effectively enriched the food source of birds and further enhanced the stability of the ecological systems of Qinglong lake. In the landscape design, the team planned 9km primary greenways and 14.5km secondary greenways, according to the Tianfu Greenway system planning. The original tractor roads and dike patrol trails are considered in designing the main greenways reasonably for through the north-south slow traffic. For the park’s management and ecology protection functions, service buildings are constructed on the original homesteads and wasted lands to add more yards, and pavilions and pagodas. Secondary greenways are created by reconstructing the current road bed to connect the main landscape nodes in the park and the green ecological fragments to offer the vast residents a unique experience of traveling through the forest and lake area. We also introduce the effective robot maintenance system in this park, you can find the security robot, the cleaning robot and wildlife survey drone here.
