A UNIVERSAL AND SUSTAINABLE HUB, POWERED BY COMMUNITY, DESIGN WITH COMMUNITY, A GIFT FOR COMMUNITY. RGE as a global resource-based manufacturing company holds ‘5C’ as their vision : creating value for the community, country, climate, customer and company with common purpose to improve lives by developing resources sustainably. The company which comprises of local and international staff, have cultural diversity and large range of community activities as part of a one big family, which comprises the young generation as their future generation. The project aims to engage, enrich and empower the community while carrying out company’s spirits by designing a sustainable built environment which is low energy with passive cooling by respecting towards nature and cultural heritage with optimization of local resources, labour, and craftsmanship. The concept of sustainability is infiltrated throughout the building, from one end to the other, from one function to another, as a commitment of human being to live together side-by-side with nature,: to be a part of the nature. The commitment is realised with the maximization implementing of natural resources and minimization exertion of existing land and trees for built environment wisely by located among existing oil palm plantations. Collecting thoughts from the community with various demands and needs comes to a statement that all of the designed space should have high flexibility to hold various kind of activities. One space should possible to cater more that one function at any time without major changes. The importance to align 4 main functions : multi-purpose hall, event space, classrooms and polyclinic to collide in one building is to make one effective community space. While being efficient in building footprint, this will also encourage for high possibilities of creating new unexpected communal space. Extensive indoor and outdoor platform are created to gather high numbers of people in one place, also to encourage the community to re-adjust work-life balance by having fresh and active lifestyle in the middle of nature. Various activities such as physical exercise and sport, jogging, cycling, even marathon are some of many possibilities that expected to happen, to ensure the longevity from generation to generation. This is supported with great emphasis on passive sustainability features such as : porous secondary skin that inspired from local Bono wave and walkable green rooftop to minimize the impact of the tropical heat, use of ‘green’ technology such as : PV panels and reuse of organic waste that minimize pollution and waste, optimization of natural ventilation, as well as energy and water conservation.
