Inclusive, warm, and friendly - these are the defining features of Turkish culture, which have their roots in the fertile lands and rich history of Anatolia, and are shaped by a focus on togetherness. Having been home to many civilizations, these lands have facilitated a multitude of cultural developments, transformations, and continuations. Today, this sense of togetherness is evident in every aspect of Turkish culture and arts, from handcrafts and trades to architecture and cuisine. The most important characteristic of Turkish culture and arts is their ability to touch emotions deeply. Patterns that constantly reference family ties, togetherness, femininity, and production are now being modernized and used extensively. Handcrafted items made by women, such as woodcarvings, Turkish lace, and carnation embroideries find their place in home decor, furniture covers, clothing, and even as gifts, symbolizing warmth, hospitality, and attention to detail. All these cultural elements, which act as a time machine, and sophisticated details have become differentiating factors in design. One of the most significant parts of traditional Turkish culture is the world-renowned Turkish cuisine. The combination of high-quality and diverse ingredients with unique cooking techniques forms the basis of the “Traditional Turkish Cuisine,” which is known for its hospitality and presentation. The tradition of eating together, which has been passed down from ancient times to the present day, is an essential part of this cuisine. Families gather around the table in the evening and enjoy their meals in a warm family atmosphere, discussing daily matters and turning the act of eating into a shared activity. In light of all these factors, we aimed to design our project around the concept of depicting “the tree of life”. The Tree of Life symbolizes the roots of life and togetherness. Its gathering effect signifies the importance of producing and consuming together, regardless of any distinctions, and reinforces the hospitality of Turkish cuisine. The starting point of our story, which has been modernized and designed functionally, is situated at the center, forming a reference point for all our interior design elements. Colors, materials, and many other elements are expanding and finding their place within the context of the Tree of Life.
