Temporary Housing Pavilion for Healthcare Workers

Estado de México

The Temporary Housing Pavilion for Healthcare Workers is a non-profit emergency architecture project designed by Revolution built by Grupo Dovela with the aim of giving the Mexican Red Cross staff a comfortable and safe space where they can sleep and wash in their own place of work, thus avoiding returning home and exposing their families to the contagion of Covid-19. The project is made up of 12 independent 7m² modules built from certified sustainable wood and polyaluminium foil from packaging manufactured and recycled by the Swedish company Tetra Pak. Each module has natural lighting and ventilation, a bedroom, shower, WC, sink, closet, electrical connections, hot water and a small chlorinated water tank. The interior walls are finished with a hospital grade antibacterial acrylic coating donated by the American company PPG Comex. The canopy is resistant outdoors in all types of climates. The project was financed thanks to the donations of 22 companies and private organizations from 6 different countries and was installed in the Ecatepec Hospital of the Mexican Red Cross, an impoverished and overcrowded suburb of the capital that is among the localities of the country most affected by the pandemic. The windows were donated by the French company Saint-Gobain Glass, the wood hardware by the German company Spax, the bathroom furniture and accessories by the Mexican company Helvex, the electric water heaters by Calorex -a subsidiary of the Italian company Ariston Thermo-, the adhesives and bases for shower cabins by the American company Ralph Wilson and all the wood supplies by Losifra and Construmaderas from Mexico and Lumin from Uruguay.
