Nestled within Dankuni's industrial expanse, the project spans 23 acres, accessible from the highway and surrounded by factories, with a traversing canal. Its development unfolds in two phases. Phase 1, covering 12 acres, focuses on constructing the factory, and Trilok, the cultural center, while Phase 2 will include construction of the staff quarters and guest accommodations. At the heart of Trilok lies a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, surrounded by pavilions, contoured landscapes, cascading water features, and ghats, serving as a focal point for community gatherings and festivities, catering to both factory workers and locals. The architectural ethos of Trilok simplifies traditional temple design by omitting ornamental embellishments and preserving symbolic motifs. Spatial organization follows traditional temple planning principles, with the shrine positioned in the northeast corner per Vaastu Shastra and the cultural centre aligned along the North-South axis. Covered in lime plaster, the temple stands in contrast amidst a lush green backdrop. The egg-shaped shikhara form of the shrine symbolizes the cosmic realm and the connection between earth and sky. This concept is further echoed in the shape of the suspended structures above the pavilions surrounding the shrine. An array of pavilions of 3.9 meter diameter each is arranged in a circular pattern, enhancing the cultural centre's aesthetic appeal and creating a sense of symmetry and balance. This layout symbolizes completeness and continuity in the spiritual journey. The innermost sanctum is reached through a labyrinth of grand Mandapas, crafted from a composite of metal and recycled bamboo waste from the factory construction. They are designed to create column-free, semi-covered spaces. These pavilions extend into a stepped landscape, creating a gradual transition from the built environment to the natural landscape. The terraces are used as seating areas and platforms for gatherings and contemplation. The bamboo structures are suspended from the flat bamboo roof, featuring copper domes at intersections, accompanied by bells that produce a harmonious melody. The design of the pavilion coverings draws inspiration from the waxing and waning phases of the moon, reflecting a celestial dance of light and shadow, and serving as a reminder of the eternal dance of cosmic forces and the potential for spiritual evolution amidst cosmic changes. Ghats have been developed along both sides of the canal banks to facilitate religious rituals and festivities as a part of CSR initiative taken up by the surrounding factories. Cascading water flows to the canal, creating a serene ambiance with the soothing sound of ripples. Trilok integrates functionality with aesthetics, paying homage to cultural roots while embracing contemporary elements. It aims to create a serene and peaceful environment, fostering spiritual growth and communal harmony.
