WAITOMO BUNGY TOWER

WAITOMO

New Zealand’s first commercial bungy jumping operation was born in the 1980’s by a couple of young kiwis including A.J Hackett. Since then, New Zealand has become the home of bungy, with numerous other operators starting up. The Waitomo area is popular for New Zealand and international tourists. It is proposed to establish and operate a new tourist attraction, the Waitomo Sky Garden. A World First. Along with the main bungy jump attraction, the Waitomo Sky Garden will also offer a sky-high cafe, viewing platform, giant slide, heated pools and a restored wetland area with amenity walkway. When completed, the Sky Garden will be the first of its kind in the world, with the highest water-touch bungy jump, the tallest dry slide and the tallest timber structure in New Zealand. Upon entry through Facility Building, there will be an option to simply take a walk around the wetland / gardens via paths and boardwalks while taking in views of the valley. The Bungy Jump will be a significant part of the Waitomo Sky Garden complex. The jump height is to be 55m in height with the jumper to be given the option to water touch (this will be New Zealand’s highest water touch). On less busy days, the jumpers will be given the option to roof jump which will be our free style bungy. Here you can flip, ride off on a bike, skateboard or any other device you want to jump of in/on. The Giant Slide will also be a significant part of the Waitomo Sky Garden. It will be the longest and highest slide in New Zealand. It will give customers who are not up to the bungy or swing, a chance to experience an activity on the tower, or a way of going down that doesn’t mean taking the stairs! There is hope that slide will have moments where it is fully made out of glass, so you can see what is below and around you. The Great View will be operated from the Tower Structure. Customers to purchase passes from the Facility Building, will travel across to the Tower Structure, walk up the stairs or take the elevator to the viewing platform towards the top of the Tower Structure. While ascending the stairs and when they are at the viewing platform, customers will be able to look out from the elevated levels at views of surrounding area. The viewing platform will be enclosed with glass to give weather protection and allow heating. A coffee bar will be located at the viewing platform to offer beverages and light snacks. Around the base of the tower will be an array of larger and smaller lagoons / hot pools for tourists and locals to relax and soak. The lagoons will have a natural look to them. The main lagoon will feature a depth of 3 meters allowing you to swim around if you get to hot. Coming off the main lagoon will be 2 other lagoons that will be heated, and then another 6-8 smaller lagoons (spa's) that can be booked out for more private use.
