[Objectives: Humanistic Community Space] Universities should not only consist of a series of functional units (teaching, scientific research, administration, associations, etc.), but also be a human community in which young students explore their lives and grow up independently. The goal of Xichao Bookstore is to create a community space for the people who are interested in humanities among Jiaotong College students. The meaning of humanities here is not the humanities defined from the perspective of the discipline system today, but the impulse to look up to the stars, to pursue poetry and the distance, that is, to go beyond the immediate interests of reality, to pursue a kind of impulse that either points to the future or is useless for freedom, but nourishes the people's mind and enlightens the spiritual and intellectual composition of thinking, which is the impulse in all humanities, arts, and distant places. Social science, science and engineering, especially today, should occupy a prominent place. The goal of this design is to hold the above values, or to make friends with college students who are interested in these values, to use a series of physical or virtual spaces, such as bookstores, activity planning, and so on. They often come and go, not only reading, but also watching movies, lectures, performances, group activities, lingering and wandering, stories, encounters and hobbies, in the most important period of youth. Slowly form an acquaintance community, become an indispensable part of the growing memory of these people, warm accompanied by growth.
