A house that argues with you—Eisenman turns domestic space into a live demonstration of rules, cuts, and consequences.

Visitor Guide
This is a private residence: don’t trespass. View from the public right-of-way only, and keep your visit respectful and brief.
From the nearest public roadside vantage where the main elevations are visible; late afternoon helps the planar cuts cast legible shadows.
Not open to the public (private home). No interior access; the ethical alternative is to study drawings/models in archives and museums.
The infamous ‘structural’ column that drops through the dining table and the stair that refuses to behave are the point: function is intentionally subordinated to a formal grammar.
10-20 minutes (exterior view only)
Design & Structure
Generated from a conceptual grid and a sequence of formal transformations—architecture as a record of operations. The ‘method’ is the design: rule-making, then refusing to cheat when the rules get inconvenient.
Plain domestic materials deployed with almost clinical indifference—because the real ‘finish’ is the diagrammatic logic, not luxury.
Structurally ordinary by comparison to its conceptual ambition; the radical move is treating structure as a readable code rather than hidden support.
