Belgravia Green

Belgravia Green is an 81-unit strata landed enclave nestled off Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5, Singapore. Typically, strata landed developments mean narrow spaces and rigid forms. As a design move, we sought to create a rhythm in our façade design, in an attempt to bring interest and a sense of luxury with basic materials. We also wanted to ensure our design was buildable, choosing to precast the panels that were simply hoisted and installed on site. As part of the holistic design, living rooms at the first storey open into a privately enclosed spaces through ‘timber’ sliding doors that continue the language from the precast façade. The façade features also delineate each terrace house apart from its neighbours. As one traverses the development, every row of houses has different thematic landscape features. At the entrance, we designed the usually unsightly electrical substation into a unified structure incorporating the function room and gym. The guard house is also integrated into the feature, creating an expansive entrance portal as a welcome gesture. Strata landed developments are difficult to design due to the high demand for efficiency and maximisation of unit numbers. We decided that the façade and entrance features were canvases to demonstrate the design intent and signature of the development, whilst allowing the other aspects to remain attractive for sales. Internally, the houses are planned and designed to allow key spaces like the living and master bedrooms to enjoy the maximum width of the house. In the basement, each house enjoys their private parking spaces, as well as a space that can be either a granny room or a large function space.
