GRC Office Lobby, Xi'an

This project is located in the north of new development and business center of Xi'an. The designer used "horizontal and vertical lines" as a metaphor for business center, implying the economic, commercial and transportation north-south arteries of the network of Xi'an new area, presenting the vitality of the building. The designer started with minimalism, using asymmetry and organic digital art to break the banal and unnecessary emptiness of space. The contemporary architectural aesthetics that transforms functionality into artistry, ideally balancing between boredom and passion, reason and imagination, creates an artistic space for office workers to escape from hustle, disorder and tedium, pursuing the virtue of cooperation and the art of human interaction in this business environment, in order to stimulate a harmonious resonance between aesthetics and spirit. The lobby of Silk Road Financial Center is dominated by the light white of Italian synthetic stone, complemented by the metallic luster of off-white lacquer and aluminum oxide, thus precipitating the poetry of cold tone and responding to the high business quality of the venue. White stone and white paint, providing natural luster, articulate the light of both sides, subtly spilling into the dark stairwell. Repeated parallel panels, either tilted or flat, chant a musical and mathematical beautiful song like a set of black and white keys. These beauties do not imitate anything living, but are like a daydream that shocks the heart with the same frequency, depicting a contemporary imagery of "sublime purity". The ceiling of the stairwell extends out of the vertical façade and slowly grows into a doorway parallel to the façade, presenting a relationship of "growth" and "continuity" from the inside out. Because nature is gradually disappearing from human life and urban life, the designer has refined the poetic realm of "nature" here, impressing people with simple and innocent details. The rounded corners of the building are like warm jade, echoing the art installations hanging over the front desk. The spatial layers of white, light gray and dark gray make the building look like a classical sculpture, with an indifferent atmosphere and a balance of functions that are not disturbed too much. The designer boldly uses the expressionistic "modern ink" digital media art to break the tedium and seriousness of the office lobby. The watery texture of the digital art brings color, relaxation and flow, where people have a dialogue with the building and use their sensual imagination to counteract our inner tension, anxiety and tedium.
