In reimagining our work environment, we sought to go beyond simply addressing the spatial constraints of our former office. This was an opportunity to elevate our workplace into a space that embodies HKS Singapore’s evolving identity and aspirations—one that prioritizes well-being, fosters creativity, and drives innovation well into the future. From the outset, our process was rooted in co-design, engaging team members at every stage. Through collective discussions, workshops, and feedback loops, we ensured that the final outcome would reflect diverse perspectives and provide equitable access to all. We anchored the design around four guiding principles: Empowering Everyone, Access for All — championing inclusivity from the choice of site to the amenities offered, ensuring comfort and accessibility for every colleague; Bringing People & Community Together — creating spaces that strengthen connections and foster a sense of belonging; Inspiring to Create Lasting Change — designing an environment where creativity flourishes and innovative ideas can take root; and Fostering Collaboration & Flexibility — equipping our teams with adaptable spaces that support both independent work and group engagement. Spanning 5,016 square feet, the office is composed of purpose-driven zones designed to accommodate various work styles and energy levels—from deep focus and ideation to social interaction and rest. On Level 6, the Learning Center offers a versatile platform for knowledge exchange, hosting everything from lunch-and-learn sessions and workshops to academic collaborations with partners like SUTD and NUS. Its customized modular furniture supports effortless transformations, encouraging spontaneous collaboration and tailored programming. Meanwhile, across the workspace, areas like the daylight-filled sketch corner, private phone booths, and the Singaporean lounge provide a rich variety of settings to suit every moment of the day. To celebrate creativity and embed community into the daily experience, we also partnered with local artists to create murals that express our collective spirit and cultural identity. The result is a space that doesn’t just look good—it works harder, feels better, and reflects the people who bring it to life every day. This new chapter marks more than a change in location. It represents a shared commitment to designing with intention, growing with purpose, and shaping a workplace that empowers every individual to thrive.
