This semi-detached house embraces tropical architecture principles, emphasizing passive cooling, natural lighting, and climate responsiveness. The house features a modern tropical aesthetic with open spatial planning, sun-shading elements, and an integration of indoor-outdoor living. Key Design Features: • Brise-Soleil System: Fixed and operable vertical and horizontal sun-shading devices shield glazed façades from direct solar gain, particularly on east and west elevations. These reduce indoor heat buildup while allowing diffused daylight and ventilation. • Skylight Integration: Strategically placed skylights introduce daylight into central areas, minimizing the need for artificial lighting. • Passive Cooling Strategies: - Cross-Ventilation: Aligned openings and louvered panels allow prevailing breezes to flow through the interior, reducing dependence on mechanical cooling. - Thermal Mass & Light Materials: A mix of thermally massive core walls for temperature regulation and lightweight, breathable finishes for fast cooling. - Shaded Courtyards & Swimming Pool: Internal gardens and reflecting pools help cool surrounding air through evaporative cooling. • Tropical Design Elements: - Wide Eaves & Overhangs: Provide shade and protect façades from rain. - Raised Floor / Void deck: Improves air circulation beneath the structure and provides a naturally ventilated, shaded space for outdoor living.
