Integrated Intermodal Metropolitan Station

Located in intended for revitalization industrial and residential district in place of old a bus station, the unique and modern Inermodal Station along with cozy green areas and public places is designed to revive and attract residents opening as an extension of Park Lubelski. The building consists of a two-story overground section covered with a glass roof with a direct connection to a car park for passengers located on the underground floor. Over the building spreads a green roof in the form of a terrace on the carved, in a parametric manner, steel poles constituting its suport – an oasis for those who seek serenity and view. The space between the roofs was used to locate utility equipement. Inspired by nature and historical elements of Lublin not only by form, the main ideology for the infrastructure was to make it self-sufficient and eco friendly. Solar panels on wide bus platform roofs provides energy not only for the building but also for the city itself. Water tanks gather rain water to be then used for watering the green areas, roof and green walls inside and outside the building. Specialistic concrete pavement between green areas gather toxic chemical compounds from atmosphere and in addition to ubiquintous greenery helps fighting the pollution and creates healthy microclimate. Glass orangery keeps the temperature inside lowering energy consumption. Centralization of communication is the main factor for human integration and by creating places for people to meet and spend time – it might act as a heart for future gatherings and events and subsequent revitalizations in the area.
