Raumplus was established in 1986 by Mr. Jürgen Guddas in Bremen, Germany, and has since become one of Europe's premier custom home furnishing brands. In 1997, nobilia made its debut in the Chinese market. In 2018, nobilia and raumplus established a joint venture in China, followed by the commencement of investment and construction of their Asia-Pacific R&D headquarters in 2019. Both Nobilia and Raumplus prioritize environmental sustainability and health in their products. Consequently, the project design integrates organic and sustainable materials, incorporating green architectural principles. The project was awarded LEED Gold certification, signifying international recognition for its green building initiatives. The Nobilia and Raumplus Asia-Pacific R&D headquarters is designed as a micro-ecological hub for research, experimentation, management, exhibitions, and product launches. Its layout features four intersecting rectangular volumes surrounding a courtyard. The lower levels are characterized by spacious areas defined by engineered stone, while the upper levels boast sculptural volumes enclosed in zinc-clad glass curtain walls, inspired by the sleek lines of German sports cars, creating a dynamic spatial tension. The internal garden serves as a central gathering space and outdoor theater, complete with tiered seating and a central stage. Office spaces open to the garden, offering ample natural light and functioning as balconies and terraces overlooking the central area. The ground floor primarily consists of public spaces; the second-floor includes management offices, dining, and reception area, interspersed and separated by a series of outdoor terraces. The third floor serves as the research and development center, showcasing products under development. The interior layout prioritizes employee comfort and work environment, offering abundant natural light and comfortable workspaces. All interior partitions, sliding doors, and cabinets feature Nobilia and Raumplus' own products. The research center's interior workspace doubles as an on-site showroom, enabling employees to engage closely with their designed and manufactured products.
