Oneg Yue Shan

This project is located in Pingtung, Taiwan, with the famous Dawu Mountain in Pingtung as the design inspiration. The architectural layout and facade design were planned to reflect the symmetrical and balanced beauty of the North and South Dawu Mountain through architectural approaches. In addition to using two mirrored, symmetrical buildings to symbolize the North and South Dawu Mountain, we designed a pond in the courtyard and an end wall that features a mountain-like motif. When the sky, clouds, and the reflection of the end wall are mirrored on the water's surface, it creates a scene reminiscent of Dawu Mountain, with the landscape appearing on the surface of the pond. And Pingtung's local cultural groups include Indigenous peoples, Hokkien, Hakka, and others. We use the contrasting colors of the grilles to represent the image of the coexistence of diverse local cultures, making the building facade more vibrant and lively. This project aims to become a localized architecture, blending seamlessly with the local landscape. In addition, the building layout not only takes into account the local climate but also considers the relationship between the community and its neighbors. The outdoor open space with an inner courtyard allows for the introduction of the cool southwest monsoon winds during the summer, increasing the usage of outdoor facilities. At the same time, it enhances the residents' willingness to spend time in the front yard. This way, when community events are held, interactions with neighbors are encouraged, achieving the goal of increasing community intimacy, identity, and cohesion.
