Visitor Guide
The Turbine Hall installations are free and often extraordinary. The Switch House extension (also H&dM) has the free viewing level on the 10th floor — one of London's best free views.
From the Millennium Bridge for the classic frontal view. Inside, the Turbine Hall from the entrance ramp looking down toward the current installation.
Free admission (permanent collection and Turbine Hall). Special exhibitions ticketed. Open daily 10am-6pm, Fri-Sat until 10pm.
The Switch House extension (2016) uses the same brick but twisted into a perforated lattice pattern. From the 10th floor viewing platform, you can look directly into apartments across the way — this led to privacy lawsuits.

Design & Structure
Original: Sir Giles Gilbert Scott's 1947 brick power station. Extension: perforated brick lattice (22 different brick-laying patterns computed to control light and views). The dialogue between raw industrial heritage and precise contemporary brickwork is the building's great achievement.
