A soft-edged academic city where the real flex is how gently it organizes crowds—like urban design in indoor voice.
Campus of Bocconi University.
Visitor Guide
Treat it like a route, not a building: walk the ground-level edges and courtyards and watch how the curves funnel people without obvious barriers.
At the main courtyard edge where the curving façade layers overlap; shoot in early morning for clean lines and minimal foot traffic.
Active university campus; access varies by building and security. Outdoor spaces are typically the safest ‘visit’ for non-students; interiors may require a university reason or event access.
SANAA’s ‘parametric’ magic is analog: subtle curvature and spacing do the crowd-control work that other campuses solve with signage and fences.

Design & Structure
Campus-scale planning with SANAA’s signature continuous curves and layered transparency. Digital modeling supports curvature control, façade repetition strategies, and daylight optimization across a large ensemble.
Glass and pale structural surfaces—materials chosen to make edges disappear and turn mass into atmosphere.
Long, gently curving façades and large glazed areas require stiffness and movement-joint strategy to prevent the ‘lightness’ from turning into wobble or cracked seals.
