Picturesque Campus—Victoria Park Academy

Victoria Park Academy is the first branch school of Victoria (China) Education Group in Shenzhen. The geographical merits endow the site with sophisticated and appealing parameters. The design originates from nature to establish a warm space with a focus on students and teachers. The new campus design intends to develop and inspire students' self-awareness, promote social interaction and collaboration, and establish a seamless link with nature. We preserved the original building structure, including the elegant sloped roof, built a "Blue Mountain Corridor" shaped like flowing water to connect the vertical relationship and organizational unit, connecting all the interior functional areas, like an endless river of knowledge, the corridor connects the three areas of salon lectures, the main staircase space, and the atrium courtyard, and the entire campus reaped the benefits of scale. The new campus design intends to develop and inspire students' self awareness, promote social interaction and collaboration, and establish a seamless link with nature. Our aim is to create a 'school' as well as a 'Fairyland' for the students. The space design caters for both learning and teaching, the renovation makes a few small-scale interventions, bringing sunlight and fresh air in to create a seamless connection with nature. From the airy open atrium which brings daylight into the entrance area, to the multifunctional salon area with multimedia learning, leisure, and social networking: and from the art gallery on ground floor to the specialty reading area on second floor, The design is pervious to nature: the vibrantly colored space, the daylighting change from skylight, and the perception of subtle changes in seasons.
