VISION Vision for the new Mercedes-Benz Offices is a workplace that provides a multiple choice of work settings, encourages collaboration and learning, promotes exchanging ideas and innovation, creates a strong sense of belonging, increases productivity. The Office has a flexible structure that can evolve with changing work habits. DESIGN PRINCIPLES The main circulation route in the building which’s footprint 48 meters by 28 meters, is around the core surrounded on one side with supportive enclosed spaces and on the other side, open space divided into interchangeable compartments. Surrounding the core are main workstations, placed on the periphery, illuminated by natural daylight. A healthy flow between the core zones and departments is facilitated by a central loop around the building core, an extensive pathway that ensures that the staff from different departments can meet spontaneously to chat and exchange ideas. A vibrant color scheme based on the corporate color palette defines certain areas, and some softer colors are preferred in certain areas. This is part of a concentrated effort to make the office more welcoming, comfortable and informal while maintaining professional values and functionality. There is a piazza zone that serves as a venue for all the weekly hands on meetings ,private one to one conversations, trainings, celebrations, and / or all types of collaboration. It’s one of the designated “social spaces” where employees are encouraged to gather and exchange ideas, information and stories with each other. Depending on specific moods of work styles, employees can select from secluded silent rooms or one of the designated communal zones. The interior focuses on simplicity and transparency with a bit of color. The central zones accommodate many functions from lockers, cloakrooms to small meeting rooms and phonebooths offering a chance to get away from the buzz of the main space. Wood with acoustic detailing wraps around the workspace with neutral colored carpeting or LVT with wood finish, highlight carpet/LVT marks the circulation area around the core. Eco-curtains and islands, accomodating huddlebooths and phonebooths, are placed along the circulation area in-between departments and aside from decorative purposes, serve as sound absorbers and dividers between workstations. These eco-curtains may be fixed or may be portable partition screens available for dividing up areas as needed.Just like its counterparts in the nature, the circulation path through MB new office has been carefully highlighted to be easily accessible and understandable by all, no matter whether you are a frequent traveller or a first-time visitor. Crystal clear communication is essential for productivity. Low separators and glass walls connect employees with each other visually while private meeting rooms offer confidentiality when necessary. The workplace enhances flexibility and redefines the purpose of the office with its energy efficient and sustainable concept: an agile working environment, consisting of a variety of work settings such as Focus, Collaborative, Learn/Meet and Socialize with dedicated Free Zones for the buzz of the day and quiet zones in the building footprint for selected areas for activities that demand focus.
